The Biggest Change Since the Internet Is on the Horizon

Most advisors think AI means typing a question into ChatGPT or Gemini and reading the answer. That is the small version. Useful, but small. We actually have not seen the real impact of AI yet. Not even close. The bigger change is still coming, and it will affect how every business gets found. Most advisors are focused on the wrong thing.

Picture the Whole Internet as Amazon

Not the Amazon you log into. The infrastructure underneath it.

When you sell a product on Amazon, you plug into a system & infrastructure. That infrastructure handles discovery. It knows what you offer, the details of the product, what it costs, and how it compares to others. The plumbing itself is what makes the product findable. You do not rank your way in. You connect.

Now imagine the entire internet works that same way. Where your product or service “plugs into” the infrastructure to be found. That is where agentic (AI) commerce is heading. An agentic marketplace where businesses plug into shared infrastructure, and that infrastructure decides who gets surfaced. We are still early, but the pieces are being built right now.

Agentic commerce has yet to take hold. But it is coming.

Discoverability Is Being Replaced by Infrastructure

For twenty years, the game was being found. You ranked on Google. You listed on directories. You wrote content that surfaced in search.

The new game is different. It is being usable & trustworthy. An AI agent has to read you, verify you, and act on you without a human ever visiting your website. Ranking was the old goal. Your website being machine-readable is the new one.

What "Agentic" Actually Means

An AI agent is software that does not just answer questions. It takes action on someone's behalf.

Here is what that looks like soon. A prospect asks their AI to find a fee-only advisor who works with business owners in the San Clemente, CA area. The agent does not hand back a list of links. It researches, compares, and verifies advisors directly. It looks for signals outside their website for credibility. It talks to their website infrastructure, confirms their credentials, and returns a short list of a few options. Two machines exchanging information while the person waits. This is agent-to-agent commerce, and it is closer than most advisors think.

This Is Good News If You Take Action Now

Here is the part worth getting excited about. This is the biggest opportunity for advisors in years.

The infrastructure is being built now, which means the field is wide open. Very few advisors are ready. The ones who prepare their websites and contact points early, will compound an advantage that increases your online visibility every month. This only happens though, if you take action now.

Two Things to Build Now

You do not need to understand the technology to get ready for it. You need to focus on two things.

First, a machine-readable website. Your site has to be structured so an agent can read it and act on it. That means clean structure, direct answers near the top of each page, and technical settings that let AI tools in instead of blocking them. Think of it as building the endpoints that let you plug into that Amazon-style infrastructure when it arrives.

Second, AEO signal development everywhere else. AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimization, which means you are being surfaced by AI answer tools instead of just search engines. Directories you’re on, social media posts and content, your Google Business Profile, forums you’re mentioned in, and your review platforms all have to agree with each other. They should point to the same verified you. When those signals are scattered or inconsistent, an agent gets unsure. An unsure agent moves on to the next advisor.

Do Not Sit on Your Hands

The advisors who have the correct infrastructure now will be the ones agents recommend later.

You do not have to do it all at once. Fix your website structure. Clean up your listings. Make your online presence consistent and verifiable. Each step makes you a little more ready for the shift that is coming.

The change is real, and it is bigger than the arrival of the internet itself. The advisors who see it early and act will be hard to catch. The window is open now. That is the whole point.

July 2026 Market Snapshot

  • Stocks cooled off but closed a blockbuster quarter: The S&P 500 slipped about 1.3% in June to close at 7,499, snapping a two-month winning streak. Even with the dip, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq posted their best quarter since 2020, rising roughly 14% and 25% over the three months. (CNN / Nasdaq)
  • New Fed chair, hawkish shift: The Federal Reserve held rates at 3.5% to 3.75% at Kevin Warsh's first meeting as chair on June 17. The updated dot plot turned hawkish, with most officials now projecting rates to hold or rise through year-end and only one projecting a cut. (CNBC / Chase)
  • Inflation projections moved higher: Fed officials now see PCE inflation reaching 3.6% by year-end, up from 2.7% in the March projection, citing higher energy prices tied to the Middle East conflict. They also trimmed the 2026 growth outlook to 2.2%. (Fox Business)
  • Oil dropped sharply: West Texas Intermediate crude fell about 19% in June and more than 30% for the quarter, its worst quarterly showing since early 2020, as the Iran conflict moved toward resolution. (CNBC)

Run a mid-year "second opinion" offer.

July is when people check where they stand for the year. Their accounts may be up, but they are not sure if they are actually on track. That uncertainty is your opening. Offer a simple, no-strings review of a prospect's current plan. Look at their allocation, their fees, and whether their plan still fits their goals. Keep it low pressure. Most people have never had a second set of eyes on their money, and the ones who take you up on it are usually already half-considering a change.

Be a guest on a podcast.

You do not need to start your own show. Guesting on someone else's is faster and puts you in front of an audience that already trusts the host. Find one local or niche podcast your ideal clients might listen to, and pitch a single useful topic. One good episode does double duty. Clip it for social, and turn the transcript into a page on your website. That page becomes content AI answer tools can find and cite, which is exactly the kind of signal that helps you get recommended.

Turn your top 5 client questions into a live AMA.

Pick the five questions you answer most often. Host a short virtual session, 30 minutes is plenty, where you answer them live and take a few more from attendees. AMA means "ask me anything," and the format works because it is easy for you and genuinely useful for them. Record it. Then post each question and answer on your site and social platforms as written FAQ content. This is some of the most valuable content you can create right now, because question-and-answer text is exactly what AI tools pull from when someone asks about your area.

Add FAQ Schema to Your Service Pages

Most advisors have added a few FAQs to their website. Very few have added the code that makes those FAQs count for AI. That gap is worth closing this month.

Schema markup is a small piece of code you add to a page that labels your content so machines understand it. FAQ schema, technically called FAQPage schema, tells search engines and AI tools, "this is a question, and this is its answer." Without it, an AI tool has to guess what your content means. With it, you are handing over the answer in a format built for the machine to read.

Why this matters more now

AI answer tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews build their responses by pulling clear question-and-answer content from around the web. Pages with proper FAQ schema are easier for those tools to read, trust, and cite. As more prospects ask AI for advice before they ever visit your site, being machine-readable stops being optional.

What to do

Start with your two or three most important service pages. Add a short FAQ section to each, using real questions clients actually ask. Then have your web person mark them up with FAQPage schema. If you use WordPress, tools like RankMath or Yoast can do this for you. It is a small, one-time technical task with a long payoff.

What is FAVIR™?

Financial Advisor Visibility Index Rating — an AI-native scoring system that measures how well a financial advisor's profile is structured for discovery by AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity.

How the Agentic System Works

1
Rule-Based Indexes

Ten profile dimensions — credentials, bio depth, specialties, AUM clarity, fee transparency, online presence, and more — are scored 0–100 using verifiable rules.

2
Specialized Sub-Agents

AI agents independently evaluate qualitative signals (writing quality, positioning clarity, thought leadership) that rules alone can't capture.

3
Synthesizer (Claude)

An orchestrating AI agent combines all indexes, weighs them, and produces your composite FAVIR™ Score plus bespoke, prioritized recommendations for improvement.
